Founded in 1927, Riverside was the first high school in Duval County to offer early college credit. We continue to make historic gains in helping students reach their potential. Whether their next step is college, military service, or a career, students know that Riverside High is a bastion of preparation and support. In our nearly 100 years of service to Jacksonville, we are stronger and more dedicated than ever to the success of our students.
Parents have been turning to our school to help their teens reach their goals for generations. Our students routinely accomplish what was once considered impossible — graduating high school with a two-year college degree already completed in our Dual Enrollment Program with local universities. Maybe your teen is into 3D modeling and robotics. Our Engineering Program could be right for them. Students get a rigorous yet rewarding experience learning critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity. Additionally, our AVID course helps students pick up vital college habits and thinking styles.
There’s a place for everyone at Riverside High. Our early college and college prep programs give students a tremendous head start before they make their way to college. Students who need more academic support have endless resources available to help them succeed. Our goal is for every student at Riverside High to be challenged, encouraged, inspired, and given the help needed to soar. Leadership is important to our school culture. We find students thrive on the confidence placed in them, and their ingenuity and dedication contribute to our school’s success. There are also student extracurricular clubs, treasured arts programs, and high-performing sports programs.
Whether your child has plans for college or not, our focus on college and college-style learning benefits our students in all aspects of their lives. Whatever they plan to study or achieve beyond Riverside High, our students receive coaching on the college mindset, goal setting, and work habits that they can continue to use beyond a formal educational setting. We aim for all students to build trust in themselves, learn something new every day, and go onward to make us, their families, and themselves proud.
