Thank you for your interest in this year's Summer Bridge Program. Below is some of the most important information about the program -- including dates, lunch info, and a brief overview of what happens at Summer Bridge.
1) What is the bridge program?
The Stanton Summer Bridge program was developed 10 years ago as a means of providing a transitional interactive experience for all incoming first-year students enrolled at Stanton. During each session, students will meet some of their future teachers, current students and graduates and take part in a series of academic and extracurricular activities that will truly prep them for Stanton.
2) When does Bridge meet, and how much does it cost?
Bridge is free to all enrolled incoming first-year students. We host two separate 1-week sessions. Each session repeats the same content as the other -- allowing for flexibility in your summer plans. Students should only attend ONE of the two offered sessions.
Summer Bridge Session 1: June 10-12 from 8:30am - 2:00pm
Summer Bridge Session 2: June 17, 18 & 20 from 8:30am - 2:00pm
All students should be picked up at the end of each day's meeting from the Stanton campus.
3) What will students need to bring?
The most important thing to bring is a sense of adventure! Bridge will introduce students to high school life and academics. We will provide classroom resources, some great Stanton swag, and access to curriculum materials. School lunch will be provided daily, but students are welcome to bring their own lunch as well.
4) Who should attend Bridge?
We encourage all new incoming students to attend. Last year, over 75% of incoming first-year students attended one of the sessions.
IB or Honors -- all students will be given a running start to their first year of high school. During Bridge, we help students adjust to their new school, introduce their classes, develop and expand their technology and academic skills, and formally welcome them to the Stanton family.
The program has become an important milestone in each Stanton student's experience. Many of the activities that occur during Bridge will be designed and/or include current Stanton students -- most of whom attended their own Bridge program as incoming first-year students.
The program is extremely popular for these current students -- and it is a testament to the overall positive experience that we hope to offer new Stanton families.
