Grade Recovery
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Duval County School Board Policy states for students to remain eligible to attend the magnet program at LaVilla SOTA, students are required to pass core classes, maintain a 2.0 GPA, and have a “C” average or higher in all arts area classes. Students not meeting these requirements at the end of the school year are ineligible to return to the magnet program the following year and will be recommended to return to the attendance area school.
The LaVilla Academic Review Committee has identified your student as receiving a failing grade(s) for Quarter 1 during the 2024-2025 school year. Please note that for your student to remain at LaVilla School of the Arts, he/she must:
Must have a final average of a “C” or higher in each arts area course
Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 at the end of the school year
And must be promoted to the next grade level at the end of the school year
This month LaVilla will be hosting grade recovery options for students in core academic courses for students with an ‘F” average during Quarter 1. Students participating in Grade Recovery will have the opportunity to recover the Quarter 1 grade to a ‘D’ Average. The grade recovery sessions will take place on the dates and times listed below. Please review and mark the dates your student will be in attendance.
During this time, you can also request a conference with your child’s teachers to receive detailed information about his/her progress and what is required for your student to remain at LaVilla. If your child does not meet the criteria, he/she will not be recommended for continuation in the magnet program at LaVilla for the next school year.
If you would like to set up a meeting to discuss your students’ progress, you can contact the school at 904-633-6069.
Sincerely,
Kimberly Harrison
Principal
