Dear Generals Family,

I am honored to join Riverside High School as your new principal. I look forward to meeting each of you and working together to create a positive and enriching learning environment for our students. My goal is to build on the strong foundation and traditions already in place that will support our students in achieving their highest potential.

I am honored and privileged to have this opportunity to lead our Generals this year.  I have been an educator for 21 years and an administrator for the last 10 years.  Over that time, I was successful at improving student achievement through collaboration with students, parents, and the faculty.  I believe that a strong partnership between home and school is essential for student success. I encourage you to stay involved in your child’s education by attending school events, volunteering, and maintaining open communication with your child’s teachers. Together, we can create a supportive and enriching environment that fosters academic achievement and personal growth for our students.

I’m confident that under the leadership of the faculty and staff, Riverside will continue to thrive and provide an exceptional educational experience for all our students.  I know that high school is a journey to prepare students for life. Our primary focus is to equip each student with the ability to be a successful and productive citizen in society. We have amazing teachers and staff at Riverside High School who will provide students with everything they need to grow socially and academically.  We need your commitment to your students’ education to ensure that they produce nothing short of excellence.  To achieve this excellence, student attendance is critical.  As we begin a new school year, I want to take a moment to highlight the critical role that regular school attendance plays in your child’s education and overall development.  Consistent attendance is essential for several reasons:

  • Academic Success: Regular attendance ensures that your child does not miss out on important lessons and activities. Each day builds on the previous one, and frequent absences can lead to gaps in knowledge and understanding.

  • Social Development: School is not just about academics; it’s also a place where children develop social skills, make friends, and learn to work collaboratively. Regular attendance helps your child build and maintain these important relationships.

  • Building Responsibility: Attending school regularly helps children develop a sense of responsibility and discipline. These are valuable life skills that will benefit them in all areas of their lives.

  • Preparation for the Future: Good attendance habits established now will carry over into adulthood, preparing your child for future responsibilities in higher education and the workforce.

In addition, we are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where every student can thrive. Our dedicated team of educators will work tirelessly to ensure that each child receives a high-quality education that meets their individual needs and prepares them for future success.

Thank you for welcoming me into your community. I am excited to embark on this journey alongside you and look forward to a fantastic school year ahead.

In partnership,

Chris J Koek,

Principal
