Greetings,
Tomorrow never comes and right now just passed. It is time! Eagles. We are entering the final quarter of instruction for the school year and it is important that we maintain a laser focus on growth and mastery. You will receive communication more and more outlining the opportunities we are presenting for our students and families. We need parents and students to continue partnering with the school to maintain a high level of participation with these opportunities. We need you!
As promised, we have introduced a new Study Hall/Tutoring program. Students may remain after school for tutoring Monday through Friday in the Learning Center. We have also initiated our AP/IB/State Assessment study sessions for more specific learning opportunities. The calendar outlining these opportunities will be displayed for families. These opportunities will only be impactful if we have strong participation. Our programs need support now more than ever.
As we enter the Spring, we need our focus to be on growth and mastery. Please make certain students are picked up by 3:15 PM daily. Students not picked up in a timely manner will be directed to the appropriate areas. Additionally, we need students to be on campus on time each morning. School begins at 8:10 AM. Help us by ensuring your student is in class by 8:10 AM daily.
A huge thank you to our School Advisory Council for their Title I Mid-Year Stakeholders meeting on last month. The session was informative and impactful. If you would like to attend the SAC meetings, they are held monthly on the second Tuesday at 4 PM in the Media Center.
We would like to congratulate our Paxon PTSA on a successful Career Fair on last month. The event was well attended and helpful to our students. The PTSA will also be hosting another round of Principal Coffee and Chat sessions soon. Stay tuned.
Congratulations to Samuel Castellon and Treyton Schnorbus on being named National Merit Finalists. Congratulations to Treyton Schnorbus on receiving a Congressional Appointment to the United States Air Force Academy.
Finally, team, we are in a very difficult time. The future holds many challenges that we must face. As the official School for Advanced Studies of Duval County, our goals remain the same and our commitment to excellence remains the same. For decades our school has prepared students at the highest level. We have produced countless numbers of professionals in our community. This takes place with the support of the entire team; parents, teachers, students and administrators. Paxon needs you. We are placing our focus on growth and mastery. We ask that you continue stressing the importance of hard work and dedication, and we will do the same. Remember, at Paxon School for Advanced Studies, we don’t wish, we will!
With Highest Expectations.
Dr. Turner
