Patriot News headline

Dear parents/guardians,

Happy Saturday Patriots! It is a glorious day in Jacksonville today. I have a lot of information for you this week. Some of it is for the end of the year, but since it involves money, I want you to have as much time to plan for these events. We are halfway through the third nine weeks already. Progress reports will be available this week in your parent portal.  Do not hesitate to reach out to your cadets’ teachers if you have any questions or concerns.

Holocaust Cattle Car comes to JSMAL – On Monday, we will have a special event for our Civics Students. The Cattle Car: Stepping In and Out of Darkness is an interactive, immersive, and multimedia experience inside of an exact replica of a World War II cattle car that was used to transport Jews and other targeted groups to the concentration camps and extermination camps. After visiting the Cattle Car, cadets will get presentation that includes an introduction to the Holocaust special guest speakers and finally a Q and A session.

Academic Night and Title I Parent Engagement – Unfortunately, we must move this event to February 25, from 5:30 to 7:00pm. This is a family event full of information about your child’s data, what the state tests look like and how to help your cadet. We will have food and prizes. More details will come out in my next newsletter.

Family Engagement’s Parent Academy program offers webinars in the areas of student achievement, parenting & advocacy, and personal and individual growth. These webinars are free and designed for you and the families you serve. To view the full spring 2025 catalog and register for webinars, visit duvalschools.org/ParentAcademy and select the digital catalog. If you have any questions, please email FamilyEngagment@duvalschools.org.
