At First Coast High School our athletics department has a contract with Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department that calls for at least two highly trained paramedics on site for every home football event. In case of an emergency and/or transport JFRD will most likely take the athlete to UF Health- Pediatrics because it is the closest pediatric hospital to our school. If the athlete's injury is severe enough they will be transported to UF Health- North Jacksonville which is a Level-One trauma center.

In case of an emergency and/or transport at any home sporting events that are not football the certified athletic trainer or one of the coaches will call 911 and JFRD will respond to the emergency. A member of the emergency personnel may provide transportation if the parent(s)/guardian(s) are not available. If more than one coach is at this sporting event when an athlete needs to be transported to the emergency room and their parent(s)/guardian(s) are not there, then it is required that one coach or an administrative faculty/staff member rides with the athlete.

Students and/or Students Aids may not transport athletes.

In case of an emergency and/or transport at every away football event ambulance services are provided on the sidelines. The certified athletic trainer will signal for EMS. If not present, then the certified athletic trainer or one of the coaches will call 911 and an ambulance service will respond to the emergency. Again, a member of the emergency personnel may provide transportation if the parent(s)/guardian(s) are not available. If more than one coach is at this sporting event when an athlete needs to be transported to the emergency room and their parent(s)/guardian(s) are not there, then it is required that one coach or an administrative faculty/staff member rides with the athlete.

For other AWAY sporting events if the certified athletic trainer is not present with the team, then the certified athletic trainer of the home school or a coach will call 911 and EMS will respond to the emergency.

Students and/or Student Aides may not transport athletes.
