At the start of each school day, a dedicated team of students, known as the WBBC News Crew, comes to the Media Center to present a live morning announcement broadcast school-wide in English and in Spanish. They are using a professional system to create the show and it is broadcast through closed circuit into each classroom. The program allows students to use Green Screen technology to select different backgrounds as they present the news, just like the professional news stations. Students rotate positions on the crew so everyone has a chance to learn how to run the camera, run the Tricaster, be an anchor, produce a show, and support with cue cards created in PowerPoint. It is a student-run enrichment activity that gives them responsibility and reflects what it takes to create the news in the real world.
