Atlantic Coast High School principal Dr. Michael George

Feb 24, 2025 – He's done it again!

Dr. Michael George of Atlantic Coast High School has once again been named principal of the year. This time by the Florida Association of School Administrators (FASA) and the Florida Association of Secondary Principals (FASSP).

“While I am truly honored to receive this recognition, the real credit belongs to the incredible team I have had the privilege of working alongside every day for the past three-and-a-half years,” says Dr. George. “Their passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to our students make my job easy.”

FASA is the state affiliate of the National Association of Secondary School Administrators (NASSP). Every year, each state’s affiliate selects one middle or high school principal to be considered for NASSP’s National Principal of the Year.

"Dr. George is a visionary leader committed to fostering a supportive culture where every student and staff member is valued and celebrated,” says FASA Executive Director Michele White. “His dedication to developing future leaders and uniting stakeholders around a shared vision for success sets a powerful example for principals across the state. Florida is fortunate to have such a passionate and committed leader shaping its schools.”

  • A focus on the school’s culture and supporting student well-being and safety

  • How the principal involves both students and staff in organizational decision-making and growing leaders

  • How the principal is leading teaching and learning to ensure student success in a global society

FASA will formally present Dr. George with the award during its annual conference this June in Orlando. Dr. George has also been invited to travel to Washington, D.C. in October to attend a special event during National Principals Month. There, the national winner will be named.

This is not Dr. George's first recognition as an extraordinary principal. Last year, the Florida Department of Education named him as the 2024 Florida Principal of the Year.

“The work I do is simply a reflection of the excellence of our staff, students, and school community,” he says. “Together, we are stubborn advocates for our kids, constantly pushing beyond our comfort zones to create opportunities and make a lasting impact for the entire Stingray community.”
