Sept. 16, 2024 — Duval County Public Schools is proud to congratulate our 34 seniors who have been announced as 2025 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists!

The students – representing  Atlantic Coast, Mandarin, Paxon, Sandalwood, Stanton, and Wolfson high schools –  are among more than 16,000 semifinalists selected for the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

These academically talented high school seniors will have the opportunity to compete for 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million.

The semifinalists were selected from approximately 1.3 million high school juniors who entered the 2025 scholarship program by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.  This test serves as the initial screening for program entrants.

The Finalist stage is the next round in the competition. To become a finalist, the students must submit an application detailing information about their academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards.

Finalists will be notified in February 2025, with the winners of the scholarships to be announced beginning in April 2025.
