May 7, 2024 – Two finalists have been selected for the Duval County Public Schools superintendent position.
They are: Dr. Christopher Bernier and Dr. Daniel Smith.
The finalists were selected by the Duval County School Board during a special Board meeting on Tuesday May 7.
Superintendent Finalist Meet and Greet
On May 13, the community will have an opportunity to meet both finalists during a special Superintendent Finalists Meet and Greet. Event details are below:
What: Superintendent Finalists Meet and Greet. The evening will include official candidate introductions as well as opportunities for the community to greet each finalists. There will be student performances during the evening and light snacks available.
When: Monday, May 13 from 6-8 p.m.
Where: EverBank Stadium, Gallagher Club East.
Address: 1 EverBank Stadium Drive; Jacksonville, FL 32202.
Parking: Guests are invited to park in Parking Lot C.

Finalist Interviews
Also on May 13, the community will have the opportunity to observe the finalists being interviewed by the School Board and by a Community Focus Group. The School Board interviews will be separate from the Focus Group interviews. Event details are below:
What: Superintendent Finalists Interviews. The Duval County School Board and a Community Focus Group will conduct interviews with the two finalists.
When: Monday, May 13 from 10:15 AM – 4:15 p.m.
Focus Group interview with Candidate X: 10:15 a.m.
Focus Group interview with Candidate Y: 1 p.m.
School Board interview with Candidate X: 1 p.m.
School Board interview with Candidate Y: 2:45 p.m.
