
Professional Development and Coaching in Inclusive Education for K-5 General Education Teachers
Utilizes a facilitated professional learning model;
Designed and implemented by DCPS and University of North Florida (UNF) co-investigators;
To provide evidence-based competencies to K-5 general education teachers who teach students with AND without disabilities in inclusive classrooms.
Outcomes measured:
Increase behavioral outcomes of high-needs students with disabilities
Student behavior and discipline
Increase academic outcomes of high-needs students with disabilities
Reading and math
Increase teacher knowledge, efficacy, practice, and retention
Refine a replicable, sustainable model for teacher professional learning in High Leverage Practices (HLPs) for students with disabilities in general education settings
Eligible DCPS teachers who participate will:
Receive 3-Day Summer Professional Learning through the ESE Academy for General Education Teachers
Receive $1,000 for completion of all study requirements
Commit to one school year of virtual coaching
Teach (as teacher of record) in a K-5 general education classroom that includes students with and without disabilities
Receive 20 ESE points that meet the recertification requirements with the Florida Department of Education
