What is MTSS?

An evidence-based model of schooling that uses data-based problem-solving to integrate academic and behavioral instruction and intervention. EVERYTHING and EVERYBODY in the school is a part of the MTSS system, all working together to support students.

Why MTSS?

To develop a sustainable system of service delivery that prepares all students for post-secondary education and/or successful employment within our global society, and promote system-wide pracitces to ensure highest possible student achievement in both academic and behavioral pursuits.

What does this mean for students?

The main purpose of Multi-Tiered System of Supports is to provide multiple layers of supports for all students. The systems schools put in place are to make sure all students are successful academically and behaviorally. Student data is reviewed constantly at the school level to ensure student needs are met. When the Multi-Tiered System of Supports is implemented effectively, schools support all students at all levels (whole group systems, small-group interventions, and also intense one-on-one interventions).
