Mr. Ashman currently lives in Jacksonville, Florida. Prior to his work in the Educational Services sector, he spent 15 years on Wall Street employed by various major investment banks in the field of Information Technology. Using his SUNY degree and professional experience in Applied Mathematics, Mr. Ashman began his journey in Higher Education as a high school teacher and taught Mathematics at A. Philip Randolph High School in Duval County.
After spending 9 years in the classroom and teaching every conceivable Mathematics course available, he moved into the role of Dean of Students at Jefferson Davis Middle School, and Fort Coraline Middle School. He was subsequently promoted to the position of Assistant Principal at Stillwell Middle School, Innovation and School Improvement, and Riverside High School. Mr. Ashman is delighted to return to Westside High School and further states that it is an absolute privilege and pleasure to continue the work of motivating and educating children, and providing them with the requisite tools, skills and knowledge to successfully address the challenges of the future. Mr. Ashman has a wife of 25 years and 3 adult children, who were educated through the public school system at Duval County Public School and have all gone on to pursue and complete University degrees in Economics, Molecular Biology and Information Technology/Analytics. Mr. Ashman enjoys watching Sports, particularly track and field, and soccer, which stems from his childhood and growing up in his homeland of Jamaica.
