
Florida Graduation Requirements
Have a cumulative 2.0 GPA. If you do not have a 2.0 GPA, you will not graduate.
Earn 24 specified credits. If you do not have the specified 24 credits, you will not graduate.
4 English credits
4 Math credits - Algebra 1 and Geometry are required
3 Science credits - Biology is required
3 Social Studies credits - World History (1), US History (1), American Government (0.5), and Economics (0.5)
2 World Language credits - sequential, in the same language
1 Health & Physical Education credit
1 Fine and Performing Arts, Speech and Debate, or Practical Arts credit
6 elective credits
Pass the Grade 10 English Language Arts (ELA) state assessment or earn a concordant score.
Pass the Algebra 1 end-of-course (EOC) state assessment or a comparative score .
If you do not pass the state assessments, you will not receive a High School Diploma; you will receive a Certificate of Completion. Therefore, even with a 4.0 GPA, you will not receive a High School Diploma if you do not pass the state assessments.
Traditional 24-Credit High School Track Examples
If high school credits were earned while in middle school, the student may be ahead of the above sample high school track. Please speak with your counselor for further advising and an individualized academic plan.
Students earning Alg 1A and Alg 1B credits for high school should understand it will count as 0.5 credit for SUS admissions and Bright Futures.
Although world language credits are not required for graduation, 2 credits in the same world language are needed for Bright Futures and State University System (SUS) admission.
