Vision:
To reduce academic, financial, social, and emotional barriers for students who have deferred their diplomas so that they may access educational opportunities that enhance their talents and skills to thrive in an evolving world.
The DCPS/FSCJ Extended Transition Program students have met the requirements to graduate High School. They have opted to defer their diploma so they can continue to receive FAPE (Free Appropriate Public Education).
· Extended Transition Students select a Program of Study in the following Certificate Areas:
o Technical Certificates
o Career Certificates
o Continuing Workforce Certificates
· Eligibility for each Certificate Area is determined before program acceptance based on various criteria:
o Minimum GPA requirements
o Skills-Based Assessments
o Attendance
o Interest and Skills Inventories
o Extended Transition Application and related interview process
o Ability to access transportation independently
· Extended Transition Students are expected to do the SAME level of work as their college counterparts. Students will be provided extra support and remediation. However, this does not diminish their ability to complete assignments:
o Accurately
o Timely
o Thoroughly
o Ethically
· Extended Transition Students are required to:
o Attend/complete their FSCJ course(s)
o Attend required weekly Remediation Hours
· Extended Transition Students are required to adhere to the DCPS and FSCJ Student Codes of Conduct
· Extended Transition Students are guests on the FSCJ campus. Integrity, professionalism, and appropriateness are required throughout the campus.
