I am your current Principal.  I am excited and honored to be a steward in our great community.  My goal is to continue providing a culture of service where students feel free to learn and staff members feel free to educate students in a collaborative environment.  I have 10 years of educational leadership experience.   I have worked in dropout prevention, adult education, and as an assistant principal of Edward White High School.  I also served honorably in the US. Coast Guard and I have 9 years of classroom teaching experience.  As I embark on this principalship, I realize that I have some heavy lifting to complete and giant shoes to fill. I am ready for the task.  Although I have been appointed to navigate this educational journey with you, this is an impossible task without a stalwart crew.  It is the dedicated members of this crew that make it possible for us to deliver the instructional outcomes this community deserves. The Highlands Middle School is the Pride of the Northside.  Always remember, you cannot spell Highlands without an A.

This is my third year at Highlands Middle School, and I am excited for the opportunity to continue to be part of this school and to support the students, teachers, and families. I am thrilled and privileged to be a part of this wonderful community.  I have fifteen years of educational experience within DCPS spanning grades 6 - 8, with a specific concentration in Middle School Science.  I have always worked in urban school settings.  I have acted as a teacher in Alternative Education, a K - 8 Dean, Testing Coordinator, and my most recent assignment as the Assistant Principal at Jean Ribault Middle School.  I love what I do, am passionate, and am energetic.  I am deeply honored to work in Duval County Public Schools, with its long history and sustained culture of academic excellence. I am committed to working with the Leadership team and the stakeholders, to nurture our students' academic, social, and emotional development.  As we continue encouraging families to be partners in the educational process, my door will always be open.  I look forward to meeting the wonderful students and families of Highlands Middle School as we start the school year.
