Extended Day Program

Program Mission

The mission of the Extended Day Program (EDP) is to support working parents by providing an affordable, safe, and nurturing extended-day enrichment program designed to enhance students educationally, socially, culturally, emotionally, and physically.

Program Overview

Duval County Public Schools’ Extended Day Enrichment Program provides before and/or after-school childcare services at seventy-two elementary sites and eighteen secondary sites throughout Duval County. Approximately 10,000 students per day participate in this program. The morning programs generally begin at 7:00 a.m. until school starts, and the afternoon programs open at school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. The program is available every day school is in session, including Early Release days. This is a flat-rate, fee-based program.

Objectives

Our program provides opportunities for children to develop socially, emotionally, and physically within a warm and caring atmosphere. This is accomplished through our focus on leadership, academics, wellness, and S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math). The Extended Day program is a Before/After School Childcare Program for elementary through high school-aged children. Supervision is provided at a ratio of 1 adult to 18 children at the Elementary level and a ratio of 1 adult to 24 for children at the Middle/High School levels.

Program activities include:

  • Homework Help

  • Enrichment Clubs

  • Cultural Enrichment Experiences

  • Recreational Activities

  • Snack Time
