Superintendent's Elementary Summer Academy Program
Dates: June 17-July 26, 2013
Time: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Superintendent’s Elementary Summer Academy is a program that combines both fun and academic learning experiences. Students who are currently enrolled in one of the district's Title I elementary schools are eligible to apply for this no cost program. Students will be engaged in enrichment activities in reading, mathematics and science. Students who attend will go on fun field trips, participate in various art and music classes, and will have the opportunity to go on a fun end-of-summer field trip!
Through the program, students will receive breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks, free of charge. Breakfast will be provided to students before school from 7:30 to 8 a.m.
Transportation will be provided for students. Students who are selected for the summer program are expected to attend every day unless unforeseen circumstances (such as illness) arise.
**Please note that space availability is limited.
For students currently in third-grade: We will use a lottery to give every eligible child that applies an equal opportunity of being selected. Students who are selected will be able to attend the summer program in summer 2013 and summer 2014. Families of students who are not selected will be given information about other summer programs in the community.
The registration deadline has closed.
Because we want to make our summer program the best it can be, our district is taking part in a national study to understand how the program helps students who participate. The study will help us and school districts across the country strengthen summer learning programs. The study focuses on current third-grade students. All students who register for a chance to be in the program will be part of the study. They will take an assessment at school in fall 2013 and fall 2014. When you fill out and return the Superintendent’s Academy application you are agreeing that your child can take part in the study.
For all other students: Students will be enrolled on a first come, first serve basis. Families of students who are not selected will be given information about other summer programs in the community.
The registration deadline has closed.
*Please note: There will be no school on Thursday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.
