Duval County Public Schools
welcomes you to the Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement
(SACS CASI) and Advance-Ed general information site.
This site has been developed to better inform the DCPS
staff as well as provide information to the community at
large regarding the new protocol of the SACS CASI and
Advance-Ed District Accreditation as a Quality System
process. SACS CASI District Accreditation is the
highest level of accreditation that a school system can
receive from this organization, and we are looking
forward to this process.
Currently, all of the Duval
County Public Schools are fully
accredited by SACS CASI. (The newly opened Chaffee Trail
Elementary is in the process this school year.) Through
this long-established method of accrediting schools,
individual schools are reviewed each year for
accreditation eligibility.
During the 2007-2008
school year, sought District accreditation
by conducting a standards assessment review. A Quality Assurance Review Team (QART)
visited Duval County October 2008 to evaluate and confirm
our work. Receiving district accreditation will
validate how well all of the parts of the education
system – the district, school and classroom – work
together to meet the needs of students. It provides a
comprehensive framework for continually improving
student achievement and district performance. The
process for district accreditation began in September
2007 and was completed in October 2008.
District Accreditation, as a
quality assurance process, has corroborated our
district’s efforts to provide quality education for all
of our students and recognize our accomplishments.
We invite you to review the
information on this website, become familiar with the
process of quality assurance, and learn more about Duval
County Public Schools. You can also to read the
